Ensuring Excellence Campaign
9300 Books Now
Together, we have a great opportunity. We know that just one book has the power to change lives. Imagine the power that thousands of new books will have. Since our Library “owns to loan,” every person who reads, or is learning to read, stands to gain.
Today the Library owns about 162,000 books and other loan materials. But with your help, it can own another 9300 books. On the average, each book in the collection is checked out about five times per year. With the addition of 9300 more books, there could be about 46,500 more loans every year.
The Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation is committed to securing $300,000 in private contributions to make this immediate vision a reality. “9300 Books Now” is an important first step in the ambitious Ensuring Excellence capital campaign.
Great Communities Build Great Libraries
Each one of us can make a difference in the quality of the Chapel Hill Public Library. When we make a tax-exempt gift to the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation, our money is invested and used to buy books and loan materials. Donations are given directly to the Library to meet its specific collection needs.
The Chapel Hill Public Library has an impressive record of accomplishments. Throughout the years, the Library has maintained its award-winning reputation for service, helped by a talented staff, volunteers, Friends of the Library, and the Board of Trustees. Yet our Library must remain competitive in a rapidly changing environment.
The author, Rita Dove, said: "The library is an arena of possibility, opening both a window into the soul and a door onto the world." The Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation invites you to make a gift to the Ensuring Excellence capital campaign and be a part of endless possibilities.
Making a Gift
Opportunities abound for helping the Chapel Hill Public Library strengthen its collections through private gifts. Named purchase funds may be established, perhaps to memorialize or honor a special person or group. Unrestricted gifts provide maximum flexibility to meet future collection needs; however gifts may be designated for any one or more of the Library's approved collections.
We welcome your consideration and your commitment to Ensuring Excellence, a historic enterprise. Regardless of the manner in which you choose to make a gift, or to schedule it, your commitment will help carry our community's vision for the Chapel Hill Public Library into the next two decades and beyond.
