A True Tar Heel Collectible:
Three Coaches – One Picture – A Special Message

Tar Heel coaches Bill Guthridge, Dean Smith and Roy Williams are well-known for developing great basketball teams. Now they are joining forces to support Read: It's the Best Time Out You'll Ever Take.

This unique poster features a rare photograph of the three celebrity coaches together. The photograph was taken in the Dean Dome in November of 2006. The color poster also includes scanned personal signatures of each coach. The poster is available through the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation with a donation of $15.00.

Posters are available at the Chapel Hill Public Library at 100 Library Drive, McIntyre’s Fine Books at Fearrington, and retailers Chapel Hill Sportswear and Carolina Pride on E. Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. Posters may be ordered online  HERE  on our website. Online orders will be shipped.

Guthridge, Smith and Williams have stepped off the sidelines and into the game. They agreed to pose for this poster because all proceeds will support the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation’s $2.5 million capital campaign "Ensuring Excellence: Enriching our Community by Helping Our Library Collections Grow.”

This year, Chapel Hill proudly celebrates 50 years of public library service. Since 1958, the people of Chapel Hill and Orange County have benefited from the resources of a municipal public library. The Chapel Hill Public Library is growing in size as well as in relevance. In the spring of 2009, construction will begin on a new addition, making the Library twice as large.

"Our Library is a bridge to a life time of learning," said Melissa Cain, Executive Director of the Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation. "At the Library, users learn to read and read to learn. They use the internet for information and communication either on site or through remote access. What could be better than to support the Library and own a unique Tar Heel Coaches poster?" Cain asked.

Chapel Hill Public Library is the busiest public library in North Carolina. More books circulate per capita than in any other public library. Every year the circulation of Library materials increases by nearly 3 percent.

The Chapel Hill Public Library Foundation thanks Jennings & Company, a marketing communications firm based in Chapel Hill, photographer Charles Harris, and Liz Paradise of Chapel Hill for their generous donations of photography, design consultation and layout for the poster. The Foundation extends special thanks to Coaches Guthridge, Smith and Williams for their help with this special fundraising project.
